Nine people were shot, some fatally, inside one of Charlestons oldest and most well known black churches tonight. A bomb threat complicated the investigation and prompted police to ask nearby residents to evacuate.

Given the current climate of racial hatred in the US this isn't going to end well. Hopefully they catch this murderous asshole and publicly execute him for committing this henoius, unnecessary and completely wanton crime.

Unfortunately, I think the damage has been done and his actions will be a call to arms by both sides in what appears to be an inevitable race war that started 150 years ago.

Condolences to the families of the deceased.

Yeah...yeah....but if people in the Church had of been armed they could have prevented it. Bullshit!

Hideous. The state senator who was assassinated was the Reverend Clementa Pinckney who was a conservative, family-values oriented man who was well-respected by both Democrats and Republicans.

It's a tragic loss and I can't even begin to imagine why the shooter was so involved in South African politics (per a number of reports) and why he thought that shooting anyone in the USA would somehow impact conditions in South Africa and Zimbabwe (which he apparently insisted on calling Rhodesia).

The one picture I've seen is him wering a jacket with the Rhodesian and apartheid era South African flags on it. Maybe he's a fan of that particular era? Wait and see I guess.

Still. What a sickening crime. What gets me is that the police are saying he was in the church for almost an hour before he attacked. Which means he had an hour to see what kind of decent, church going people they were, and didn't care in the slightest.

    And he's been arrested, thankfully.

Not a very good terrorist, getting caught in less than a day.

He won't see the end of the decade. South Carolina will fast track his butt to the death chamber.

He might not make it to the death chamber even. I have a feeling that the inmates at what ever prison he ends up at will not look kindly upon him.

I don't know why he was so angry at black people. I would have been mad at the guy that gave me that haircut.

Oh! He's pretty! He'll be very popular in the 'black' section of the prison.

    Hold my pocket!

Far worse than the hate crime is the crime he committed when he ignored the South Carolina law that made the church a gun free zone.

You may not carry a firearm on school premises (including day care and preschool facilities), in law enforcement offices or facilities, in court facilities, at polling places on election days, in churches or other religious sanctuaries, or in hospitals or medical facilities. (S.C. Code Ann. 23-31-215.)

Seriously, I don't know what the hell is with the near consistent behavior of these mutts to seek out places where people are disarmed. This jerk could have attacked a ghetto hip-hop club but instead deliberately chose a place where he had a pretty decent expectation that no one would or could fight back.

Because people like this are nothing more than spineless fucking cowards who are so low they don't even warrant our contempt.

This is nothing more than a terrorist act based upon racial rather than religious hatred and should be treated as such. No excuses about mommy and daddy not liking him, no excuses about being developmentally challenged, no excuses about why he did it period. Make an example of him so the other racial terrorists will at least pause before committing atrocities like this against innocent people.

One would think that after Gabby Giffords, the Aurora movie theatre, and Sandy Hook that giving a gun as a present to your dead-eyed autistic shitbag of a son wouldn't be the smartest thing to do but apparently it's too difficult a lesson for some twats to ever learn. Seriously what kind of parent believes that 'firearms & ammo - the perfect gift for your mentally ill and politically radical child!' could ever be the right thing to do?

The Charleston Post and Courier issued an apology Thursday for sticker notes advertising a gun range that were placed atop the front page story detailing the city's church shooting rampage.

The gun shop ads "attached to some home delivery newspapers on the same day as this tragedy is a deeply regrettable coincidence. We apologize to those who were offended," the paper said in a Facebook statement.

Coincidence my ass. Here we have cause and effect, literally, on the front page.
