Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau presents part of the vision for what a future Liberal government would look like, including replacing the first-past-the-post voting system and ensuring gender parity in government appointments.
Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau vowed that the upcoming general election will be the last one using the first-past-the-post voting system.
Wow, I can smell the desperation from here.
"Harper has turned Ottawa into a partisan swamp," Trudeau said, accusing the prime minister of "promoting partisan interests at the expense of public trust."
"It wasn't like that before," he said, harkening back to the time when his father, Pierre Elliott Trudeau, was prime minister.
ummm, yes it was, some of us actually remember it.
It's interesting that on the day Justin comes out with a proposal to fix the election process Mulcair comes out with a proposal to fix the economy.
It's a waste of time to expect Justin to figure out which one of those is more likely attract votes, but his puppet-masters should be able to.
Is there a conspiracy theory out there saying the Shiny Pony candidacy was really a bunch NDP-ers hijacking the Liberal platform to give credibility to Mulcair by making Justin look like a petulant child, out of touch with reality, and in over his head?
If there isn't a conspiracy theory like that, there should be. Because the strategy is working.
Tommy Boy thinks he's going to restore Canada's manufacturing industry in Ontario.... ...... . Talk about a messianic complex......he plans on raising the dead.
If some colossal miracle were to take place and Trudeau was asked to form a government after a first-past-the-post outcome, there is no way in hell that he's would change the conditions that put him into power in the first place. That is why it will never happen: The losers really don't like FPTP but the losers can't make law.
Fear and loathing. BNlamey is getting all tomoato-faced about how the Liberals and NDP (which is about 66% of Canadians in recent polls) are "siding with the terrorists." Yup, when I'm not siding wiht the child pornographers.
I'm liking the posirtive campaigns of Mulcair adn Trudeau so far.

As a Liberal, you can't seriously be happy with Justin as leader, are you?

Until the Libs dump the "NDP lite" mentality the will be relegated to the short bus.
This is one of those times when I wish I had more faith in politicians. I'd very likely vote for him just to see this happen. If I actually believed it would happen.
If he promises to bring in the PR law as his first act and then immediately call an election under the new rules... I'll vote for him.

You can't be that happy with the Conservatives, can you?

The 2015 election will see 30 new ridings and boundaries redrawn in 70 per cent of the others. Running the election will cost a projected $375 million up more than 28 per cent from the $292 million spent on the 2011 election, according to figures provided to CBC News by Elections Canada.

I'll answer your question, since you opted to dodge mine.
Am I happy with the Conservatives? Overall, yes.
Do I agree with everything they do? Of course not. Overall, I think they've done a decent job. Not great, not terrible, just 'alright'.
Do I think Justin or Tom could have done a better job? Based on what I've seen and heard from them, not a chance.
The Liberals missed an opportunity here. They went from one dud to another with Dion and Iggy and now, they opt for the guy with the name, the hair and the empty suit.
Before I got to know Justin a little more, I predicted on here that he would win the next election based on optics alone. He's pretty, he speaks well....but since we've got to see a little more about him, the 'empty suit' description works perfectly for him.
The Liberals opted to pass over the astronaut for the space cadet. It was a bad decision.

I didn't doge your question--I was just pointing out how ridiculously partisan yours was. I mean "How can you seriously like the Liberals" demonstrates a viewpoint that is so far mired in party politics that you are at the point where you can't even imagine supporting another party.
Do I think either the Liberals or the NDP would do a better job than the Conservatives? Definitely. It's my opinion that politicians, like babies, need to be changed often and for the same reason.
Don't give this crap about the Liberals missing an opportunity. The Tory attack machine characterizes Trudeau as stupid, yet Ignatieff was a world-class intellectual, Rae was a Rhodes scholar and Dion was a university professor.
I like the idea of cutting party ties with the Senate, which the Liberals did. I'm willing to explore the idea of proportional representation, and I favour taxing the wealthy a little more. I like the idea of legalizing pot--which is pretty much fait accompli anyways, not that the US has done it. And I trust the Liberals and the NDP to bring back a sense of responsibility to our foreign policy and environment files.
In my riding the Liberal candidate is a self-made millionaire entrepreneur in green technology, whereas the Conservative candidate went to Upper Canada College, spent a few years as an international bankster and parachuted in from the east as a politician.
Wow, I can smell the desperation from here.

Yes, they're lying, but from their POV, "whatever works."
They're all lying, but which party is telling the lies that work.
