A traveller from Invermere, B.C., returned home from a trip to Cuba last week - but his luggage didn't. Neither did the luggage belonging to almost all the other Air Canada passengers who landed in Calgary.
Dalke says he was given a 1-800 number, but it routed him to a call centre in India that was of little help.
Besides service that has resided in the depths of hell for decades, this travelling gong show shouldn't be allowed to besmirch the good name of our Country any longer. If they want to call themselves air something else fine, just stop using Canada.
There used to be a law where you can't use the name of a political entity for a company name, I thought. When we were forming the BC Telemark Association, we were told can't be done, you're not part of the govt. Had to change it to BCTA Telemark Association if I recall. Since we have so many govt depts like Environment Canada etc, there should be a law private companies can't all themselves X Canada. The govt, in their eagerness to spin off the govt Air Canada tho, probably passed legislation to allow it.
It's must be working out just fine. Especially since the Liberal PM's following 1988 didn't think it necessary to communise it back to a state run airline and willingly bailed it out to the tune of a hundred million dollars.
So, Air Canada gets to keep it's name and keeps insulting it's country of origin with crappy service and outrageous fares but, on the plus side the second and third worst PM's in Canadian history are probably shareholders and still get residuals from the private corporation that Air Canada is.
