If you live in China for 30 years, how Canadian are you? Maybe just accept that you have to live by the laws of your own country, not go crying to Canada when things go wrong.

Aren't they being accused of spying for Canada though ? Doesn't that at least warrant Canada saying, "yeah, wasn't us" ?

Plus there are some who believe this is a retaliation move resulting from Canada's pronouncement that Beijing had hired hackers to infiltrate the NRC ? An announcement that many are calling unfounded.

    I blame Harper.

I know, and I was being a bit facetious. But still, I don't have much sympathy for them. The Chinese live with this bullshit all the time, whities are usually exempt. What I don't want Harper to do is go soft on the Chinese spying in order to secure the release of these two.

I agree. I would like to know what evidence they have that it came from the top though. I'm pretty confident it did, but that's a pretty big charge to lob out there.

China's just playing a little tit for tat, the diplomatic route would have involved questioning the authorities before making public accusations but again, maybe they've tracked it right to the top. Hard to imagine China would be so careless though.

?What top? Your meaning is not clear here.

They weren't spying for Canada. They live on the border with NK and were taking pics of the river that divides the country.

No I meant our allegations towards them, which I believe triggered this bogus claim. Harper essentially claimed the Chinese hackers were working for the government. It seems highly difficult to prove.

Don't know. I can only assume they wouldn't make the claim unless they had solid evidence. Doubt the Cons are looking for a scrap with China.

I'm not convinced, and even if there is, the Cons diplomatic efforts could be described as clumsy at best.

You'll make excuses for anyone so long as they're the enemies of freedom. What a sad excuse for a human being are you.

Well, seems a little early to predict the next election, but sure seems like a good chance he will be. Guess he can always go back to working in the mail room for Imperial Oil, since that's the only real job he's ever had.
