A Russian performance artist nailed his genitals to the ground outside Moscow's Red Square in protest over Russia's "police state" as the country marked Police Day, a day when the Interior Ministry honours its service members.

You'd hope it was scrotum only.

The 'macho man bullies in the boys' club' do that etc for fun in Australia...staple their scrotums to pool tables.

Bullies and bullets: an ambo's ordeal

They include an internal email, dated May 9, 2006, that said an officer - a member of the so-called boys' club - had recently stapled his scrotum to a pool table at the local Railway Hotel and was "getting help".

Are they going to charge him with "hooliganism", too?

Western = guy goes nuts and shoots up the town to protest an imagined police state.

Russia = guy goes nuts and nails his balls to the floor to protest a real police state 8O

Now tell me which one is more effective in generating change?

Some things in Russia never change and I see being a sheep is one of them. I guess you can't expect 70 years or tyranny and state sponsored paranoia to just disappear in 20+ years especially when your democratic leader is a warm fuzzy former KGB Colonel like Vlad. :)

Yeah well, the guy nailing his nuts to a cobblestone didn't kill kids in kindergarten like the western fuckhead.

That's nation building. It's working so wonderfully in Iraq and Afghanistan, why shouldn't it work in Russia?

<searching madly for that sarcasm icon>

True but the difference I was attempting to point out is that in Russia it's still the state that's killing it's citizens not the citizen's killing citizens and meaningless protests like this guy's aren't going to effect anymore change than domestic terrorism especially considering the mental conditioning the Russians had for over 70 years courtesy of their Governments.

In New Jersey this fellow would have been declared a "51-50" meaning that he is a danger to himself or others and the police would take this fellow to the nearest mental hospital, hopefully with his testicles still intact.
