The baby's father and mother, Sana Nader, 35, wanted the same treatment for Joseph as was given to their daughter before she died, eight years ago at 18 months

What a terrible thing to have to go through. Twice. Very sad.

To lose one child this way is horrible, to lose two is unimaginable. This is part of what has been termed the overmedicalization of society.

A tough situation for everyone involved. I would be biased to sending the baby home to die with his family, but I guess if that just prolongs his suffering, maybe not. But if they don't want to prolong his suffering, this would be a perfect case for euthanasia. Don't allow him to choke to death, but induce death the way we do for dogs - much kinder.
