Police officers have shot and killed a black bear in West Vancouver after it broke into homes in the neighbourhood and stole food from their refrigerators.

    This is what pisses me off about this... we build homes pushing into the wilderness..

    They should have trapped and sent him far away.

    I visit West Vancouver anually and there is generally bear sitings. An aggressive bear will have to be removed.

    They did. He came back. Still very sad though.

    It wasn't so long ago that they caught a cougar in the parking garage of the Empress....and I'm not talking the 40 something variety either. I remember as a kid, having to stay inside when a cougar and her cub were spotted around Belmont Park and Royal Roads.
