OTTAWA -- The taxpayer-funded CBC has spent almost $24 million on two broadcasting trucks so it can show hockey games and cultural events in high definition.

Finally - they are spending my tax dollars the way I would! I'm sick of funding outrageous 'art' incentives and programs for marginalized minorities. Here is something for the average Canadian hockey lover. Go CBCHD!

Keeping up with technology requires investment. Sounds like a good purchase to me.

At well over a billion a year to prop up the CBC and with the current Federal deficit project to be 1.7 billion, sell the CBC assets to private interests. Our culture will grow just like it does in yogurt, voraciously.

As much as I love HiDef TV this huge expediture seems a little out of line.

Oh sorry, I forgot who's responsible for it. ROTFL ROTFL

The CBC should be privatized. If CTV can run a network without tax money the CBC can do it too.

Then how would they be able to create wonderful Canadian programs like "Little Mosque on the Prairie" ?

I like CBC for thier investigative jourlalism and documentaries, something that doesn't exactly make the big bucks and CTV doens't have. Thats why we should have a public broadcaster so it doens't have to worry about the bottom line and just carry Canadian Idol type shit. The CBC focus should be on more of this educational and Canadian content.
