The prohibition of single-use plastic products is crucial to Canada's plan of achieving zero plastic waste by 2030, but with the ban, environmentalists are growing increasingly concerned about the amount of paper packaging being used in its place.

    Yesterday - Plastic bad. Replace with paper alternatives.

    Today - Uh oh, wait a minute... that just upped paper use. Not good.

    Yea, sorry. Paper is renewable. Single use can only be rectified if paper could be re-used, which it can't.

    Once paper touches food, it can never be recycled. Any food in it will contaminate the recycled product.
