And so fire season begins... :(

Fire danger warning goes up across the province

It's bad enough to have fires caused by weather but the ones that are human caused are completely avoidable. Bans and restrictions are good things but only effective if people obey them, which sadly some feel they are above doing.

Just Springtime in BC now. :(

After last year, I'm surprised you have any trees left.

They may have renamed the Shrubs. Just for appearance sake ;)

The East is flooded, the West is on fire. All is as it should be.

Time to get a N95 mask me thinks.

Not criticizing but shouldn't that have been cleared out?

Thanks for reminding me to go get one before California starts burning again and the summer air gets as dense as fog. :|

There was a story here a month or two ago about how fires can burn underground for years then spring up again at any moment.

Interesting that last year we had a winter that wouldn't end and this year we have a summer that pops up during spring.

Here's some PG history for you herb. I remember guys being dragged out of the Canada Hotel (gone now, I think) Bar to go fight fires one late spring or early summer. They were that bad.

Yup, we've got one burning on the island up at Sayward, human caused of course. Guy was so dense he was burning slash in his yard and "lost control" which means went for a beer and a gust of wind lit the forest up. Now he's gonna have to pay a very large and unnecessary fine for his stupidity.

Good news for both fires though, rain is on the way which should help.
