The decision is "disappointing" but it affects only one of his members, said Joe Galimberti, president of the Canadian Steel Producers Association, which represents the $15-billion primary steel production industry here.
He said the Canadian arm of Chicago-based Evraz North America is the only manufacturer of large-diameter welded pipe in Canada.
Evraz did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
    Oh, I get it!
The Canuckletax-payer must finance the secret business deals of 1 merchant.

Essentially this means a US-owned firm is the only firm impacted by this.

    Whoop-dee-doo.

"Why do you keep shooting yourself in the foot?"

    "Because it drives Democrats crazy!"

    Cuz that's what's important, eh?

Just saw this with 11 yr old granddaughter.
It's 32 in the shade and everyone just had a large ice cream cone while you sat in a hot car and pouted. Pointed out to her "Who exactly was the one hurt by doing that?" Her response was to turn a chair to face the wall when she got home and pout some more.
But don't worry Bart, she's Canadian and ineligible to run for POTUS. Besides, in 25 more years, you won't be able to handle a female President down there.

They are levying duties on a US company that makes product in Canada. Product that US companies need to import, because no one else makes it. So it's not hurting us, because we aren't 'dumping' anything, and it's only hurting US companies.

Plus, it was a reference to a joke. ;)

And pretty soon they'll be making product in the US again.

Result: We get some jobs back and you folks can get rid of a smelly heavy industry that depends on coal and mining and capitalism and all sorts of other things your greenies find offensive.

    Everybody wins!

If they could do that, don't you think they would be already? Odds are, the tech is too big and heavy to move. Which is why it is where it is.

So you guys lose out with more expensive infrastructure and fewer jobs.

Oh, what is that feeling in my chest??

My heart is bleeding for the plight of a zillion dollar corporation that markets shit that I can not afford to buy!

Its not an American company. It is a multi national company with it's headquarters in London. It is traded on the London stock exchange. It may be the only producer of large diameter pipe in Canada but it is not the only producer of large diameter pipe in North America. This same company produces large diameter pipe in the United States. If they want to continue to sell it's pipe in the United States than they will have to relocate thier manufacturing facilities to the United States and the 1800 jobs that go along with it. If someone is getting shot in the foot it isn't Trump or the United States.

So how can Canadian companies be 'dumping' this pipe in the US market?
