    Nice lying title CBC:

"As they began to learn more about the country - and in particular Halifax - Robin Vargas said leaving the United States became about more than just politics.

"There were just a few things that weren't for us. I don't want to say it's completely Trump - that was a motivating factor for sure - but it was more of an adventure to come out here and try something new," the 33-year-old said."

Why does the Progressive fake news media always sound so desperate for an anti-Trump story.

That's why we love you guys. In the video, the couple says straight out they decided to leave "election night" "guess it's time to move to Canada". Those are their own words! Fiddly even quoted "I don't want to say it's completely Trump - that was a motivating factor for sure".

    But it's CBC's fault!

Bias whether perceived or not is a problem in the media so when a News Outlet uses an inflammatory headline that's only partially accurate it goes along way to perpetuating the problem rather than rectifying it.

Here's an interesting read about how we perceive media bias and fake news.

    Heres what we found:

People are twice as likely to say the quality of journalism is declining (26%) as improving (13%). However, this is significantly affected by the views of Conservative voters, who are far more likely to say journalism is deteriorating (42%)

85% say they have been exposed to fake news stories including 47% who say quite a few stories. Most (57%) of those whove been exposed to fake news said they read the stories. Among those who read fake news stories half said their views were affected and they were misled.

We estimate that about 24.5 million Canadian adults have been exposed to fake news and 14.1 million have read content. About 7.5 million have said their opinion had been improperly informed because of the fake news they read.

On the question of media bias, 58% think the news media generally favour one political party over another, with Conservative voters 15 points more likely to feel this way than Liberal voters (69% versus 54%). Millennials were also far more likely than average to perceive a bias, as are residents of Alberta.

We asked about perceived biases of different media outlets, and in most cases, roughly half saw no bias. The tendency was to see a Liberal bias at CBC, a Conservative bias at the National Post and Sun Newspapers, a slight tendency to see a Liberal bias at the CTV and Global, and mixed opinions about the Globe and Mail.

We did find differences of opinion depending on the party respondents said they voted for in the 2015 Federal Election.

Conservative voters were more likely to perceive a bias in the news media overall, particularly at the CBC. But at least a third of Conservative voters felt that CTV, Global, and the Globe and Mail favoured the Liberal Party and one in five felt the National Post and the Sun newspapers favoured the Liberal Party.

Liberal and NDP voters held varied views but not substantially different from Conservatives. Both were more likely to feel that the CBC tended to favour the Liberals while the Sun and National Post favoured the Conservatives. Interestingly, Liberal voters were more likely to feel the Globe favours the Tories as opposed to the Liberals. The opposite view held by Conservative voters.

So, given this survey's results is it any surprise that media outlets are willing to use somewhat misleading headlines to cause a sense of anger, anxiety and to push their agenda?

Your perception that the headline is inflammatory is clouded by your definition of 'flee'.

I'm not disagreeing with you that the media will resort to clickbait in order to sell page impressions, I'm just saying this isn't one of those times.

All four daily newspapers in Vancouver backed the Conservatives in the last election. And the election before that. And the election before that.

For the same reason that der Party propaganda rags always look for a brown person to blame for the latest atrocity.

Sorry but in this case I still can't agree. To me the term "flee" indicates leaving a place because of extreme danger as hastily as possible to avoid harm which isn't what happened here. Trump was elected in Nov 2016 so, this couple definitely took their time before they "fled". They made arrangements and got their things in order before moving to Canada. A move that, if the article is correct wasn't caused solely by the election of DJT but, also by their desire to try something new and different.

So to me the CBC's express use of the term "flee" in it's headline is nothing more than a bait and hook tactic designed to first, piss people off about Trump and then, get them to read why these poor "refugees" had to flee America. To be honest, when you read the headline it sounds more like something you'd read about a Syrian refugee than anyone leaving a country that Canada still considers a "safe third country".

So here's another definition of the term "Flee" from the Cambridge Dictionary which amplify's yours

    flee
verb [ I or T, never passive ] UK ? /fli?/ US ? /fli?/ present participle fleeing, past tense and past participle fled
    ?
C1 to escape by running away, especially because of danger or fear:

She fled (from) the room in tears.
In order to escape capture, he fled to the mountains.
    flee the country
    ?
to quickly go to another country in order to escape from something or someone:

Desperate? WTF do you mean, we can't get away from Trump stories, it's what the guy DOES make sure there's something about him several times every damn day.

REad the damn story - it says they started to look the day he got elected. Then it turned into more than just a thought. Trump inspired it, that's all.

It is fake news. It is sensationalized bullshit, plain and simple. When someone "flees" they are leaving against their will. They do not WANT to leave, they HAVE to leave. You flee a category 5 hurricane bearing down on your city. People were fleeing the route 91 harvest festival in Las Vegas because a madman was mowing them down. Lets not minimize the word "fleeing" by applying it to two yuppie douchebags who WANTED to leave. Their lives were not in peril. They were not going to be deported. They were not facing years in the gulag. No one was pursuing them. No one is pursuing them. No one cares that they left. I am glad that they left. My only regret is that they did not take all those other dipshits that claimed that they would leave the U.S. if Trump won with them.

They wanted to leave and they left. They did not "flee" anything. They made plans and took a whole year to leave. No news story here at all. The fact that someone would actually leave their own country because their candidate did not win sums up what a bunch of whiny self entitled assholes these people really are. Good riddance to bad rubbish. Anyhow they are your problem now.

The CBC did an interview with the couple on the nightly broadcast 'The National'.

Because Mr. Vargas, living in South Carolina, is Hispanic, IIRC he said during the interview that he was always subject to racism. But in the time when Trump announced his candidacy, things got worse. People would come up to him in the streets, and call him out for 'taking their jobs'. His extermination business would often get cancellations, and the customer said it was because he was 'brown'.

Near the November election date, someone approached him on the street, and he thought it was going to come to violence. That was when he decided it was time to leave.

So, yes, the first definition of 'flee' also applies. He was leaving for his own safety.
