four times? FOUR TIMES?! Also did anyone notice the person walking buy who witnessed it and didnt seem phased by it? creepy

WTF???
The guy just walked on the crosswalk/sidewalk, carving a piece of wood, and the cop just got out of the car and shot him?? WTF???

Birk was recently asked to turn in his badge and his gun.


And that's it? No criminal charges.


As for shotting him 4 times, I don't have a problem with that if shooting was necessary. I don't think cops are trained, nor should they be, to shot once and then assess if the person is still a threat. Once the decision to shoot is made, they shoot to bring the person down.

But by the description it does sound like the cop over reacted,

Over reacted? Boy, there's some British understatement if I ever heard any.
In a nation that has a love affair with firearms, where people are permitted to openly carry them, it seems odd a cop would get all uptight over someone whittling while they walked.
Unless the victim's REAL "crime" was being a visible minority in the wrong neighbourhood.

I counted about 5 - 7 seconds from "Drop the knife" to bang bang bang bang.

From what I've seen, the guy ought to hang.
