If you are EVER caught drinking and driving with minors in the vehicle child services be told to step in. Also there should be higher penalties for blowing over .2. If you blow over .3 you should see jail time.

1st. offence- 12 months jail. Loss of driving priviledges- 5 years.

2nd. offence- 5 years prison. Loss of driving priviledges- 10 years.

3rd offence- 20 yearsprison. Permanent loss of driving priveledges.

Failure to abide by all conditions result in no less than 10 yearsin prison.

At the very moment an impaired person gets behind the wheel of a vehicle, they are then in possession of a deadly weapon! It should be adjudged by the courts that at that point the person did infact intend to 'injure or kill'.

Driving impaired is no different than walking down a busy street and blindly shooting a firearm. If you don't injure or kill someone, that is 'blind luck'!

I don't mean to be argumentative but what would you say if it was your child getting nicked just over the legal limit?

A year in jail?

When I was in Australia the pubs (re Hotels) used to have in house breathalyzers. As can be imagined we used to have competitions. [B-o]

' You do the crime, you do the time'!

Some years ago I was faced with a similar situation involving one of my kids. Being that she ws underage, I had to attend court with her. A healthy monetary fine or jail time in lieu was assessed. When all was 'said and done' the judge addressed me and said " I imagine that you will stand good for this fine Mr.'Yogi'". To which I stood and replied, " You imagine wrong, Your Honor. I'm not the one that screwed up. She's all yours!"

The judge stood up and thanked me for being an outstanding parent. I got a standing ovation from the gallery.

In the end, she managed to arrange community service and a smaller fine which she paid. She was released to my custody as the judge felt confident that the community service would actually be fulfilled as required. It was! My daughter was plenty pissed with me and hardly spoke for a couple of weeks. Neither of my kids got into any further trouble!

On Wednesday, Catherine Irene Gagnon was fined $1,500, lost her driver's licence for a year and was handed a year's probation.

She blew .330 and that's all she got?

Holy crap.

More than likely she'll be out driving again, maybe get caught, get another fine and a longer suspension...

Or she'll simply find a tree one night and kill herself and her kids.
