I'm in a mood. Had a run-in with an asshole yesterday who put his hands on me and then Mrs. Bart had to stop me from killing the SOB. We were out of town and this jackass thought he could get away with something and this morning he's in critical condition. My fucking shoulder hurts from this jerk twisting my arm around and my patience for just about anything right now is nil.

Of course, it's my left shoulder where I had a rotator cuff injury in 2003 and the muscle tears and etc. are kicking up again.

I certainly meant offense at your stupid statement. Just how do you think you establish the health of a forest or stand of trees? You do some sample plots where you do have to cut open some trees to determine what's going on. You're not seriously contending that these researchers, which you chose to label tree huggers, are the cause of the problems the forest is experiencing, are you.

Also, white wood consists of dead cells. Only the cambium, (a think layer underneath the bark), root tips and needles/leaves are living cells. But this white wood serves to transport water and minerals up to the leaves and food to the roots. So if rot or other disease is destroying the structure of this "dead" wood, the tree will die altogether.

But I just can't fathom what you are trying to say in your post. As I say, if this is the level of thought deniers come up with, I can't believe how many people fall for this bullshit.

Meh. At the rate we're permanently removing fresh water from the system, it's no surprise there's droughts in the West. For those familiar with the geography of Vancouver Island, a single natgas well pad can go through the equivalent volume of water of Elk Lake and Prospect Lake combined.
Now look at the US, and where is the majority of fracking occurring? West of the Mississippi. We're not "merely" using fresh water faster than it can replenish itself, we are permanently removing it from the system, lost to us for what might as well be forever.

We've existed for about a quarter million years. We have the combined knowledge of thousands of years of civilization and yet as a species, we're still dumb as f**k.
