Yes, that's what I'm saying. In Canada and the US, if you target someone for certain crimes (usually violent crimes) based on their race or religion, there is an extra social sanction in the from of the so-called hate laws.

From reading some of the comments, the girls are as disgusted with the authorities as they are with their attackers. You're right, it may not make much difference to them, but targeting victims because of their race is considered an aggravating factor and should be considered in sentencing.

This was systematic and widespread and horrifying. We had a full national inquiry in Canada over the residential schools. COnsidering well over a thousand children were victimized, a similar approach should be taken in England.

I doubt creatures like this are overly worried about any hate crime charges because they probably don't really care about any of the other charges they've received. Exactly. It's the cops and other authorities that need to be raked over the coals here. Probably can't put people in jail, but they should be losing their jobs and maybe being sued by the victims.

This case is similar to the Robert Pickton case - the cops didn't want to know. When Kim Rossmo told them his geographic profiling indicated a serial killer, he was demoted, nobody listened. The Vancouver cops and Port Coquitlam RCMP did not co-ordinate. Because these were street hookers going missing, there was no outcry as there would have been with 50 women from Shaughnessy disappearing. Some scathing results from that inquiry, but afaik nobody lost their job there either.

I'm going to defer commenting at this point because I think most everyone here (save Andy) is on the same general page.

Simply stopping immigration from Pakistan won't accomplish much. England already has many Pakistanis, who have formed self perpetuating enclaves. As much the fault of English racism and classism as refusal by Pakistanis to integrate. Same deal as in France with Muslims from Africa. Why are Canadian Muslims so much better integrated, they come from the same source countries?

What's needed is authorities getting over themselves about being accused of racism and not acting. And stop holding exactly the same attitudes as the Pakistanis involved - that the girls are scum.

England, like man Western countries, should probably reduce overall immigration. Hard to do with the EU, which brings it's own set of scumbags, that do exactly the same thing, just happen to be white, and with this idea of the Commonwealth. Definitely need to get rid of the latter, only bring in immigrants that are certain to contribute to English society. Just as we should be doing here.

None of that will solve girls being enslaved tho. Worldwide phenom.
