I think he's doing it very well.

As long as being the Prince of Wales is his job I'll agree. As for becoming King I still have my doubts but I guess he's pretty much already doing most of the Kingly things he'd be doing since his mother has scaled back most of her travel and other commitments which has to count for something.

Here's an interesting poll on his popularity as both the Prince of Wales and future King but it's interesting to note that it only gives him a 17 point lead over William.

stratos stratos:
Supposedly soon after his mother died William swore that when he became king he would end the Royal house and basically make it so England no longer had royalty. Not sure how this could be done or even if he would do something like this years later.

That wouldn't sit well with the establishment if William pulled the plug, they would JFK his royal ass.

$1:
The monarch and his or her immediate family undertake various official, ceremonial, diplomatic and representational duties. As the monarchy is constitutional, the monarch is limited to non-partisan functions such as bestowing honours and appointing the Prime Minister. The monarch is, by tradition, commander-in-chief of the British Armed Forces. Though the ultimate formal executive authority over the government of the United Kingdom is still by and through the monarch's royal prerogative, these powers may only be used according to laws enacted in Parliament and, in practice, within the constraints of convention and precedent.
Figure head. But as head of state, Chuck needs to watch what he says while on official business. Momsy would not have made this mistake.

LOL. You should read some of the things her grandfather, King George V said!

Here is a picture of King George V and his cousin, Tsar Nicolas II of Russia on the left, and Kaiser Wilhelm of Germany on the right. See a family resemblance?

One of my favourite quotes from King George V goes something like: "I would very much like to go to Russia; they killed my whole family."

Different times. AS I say, I don't care what he says, he has opinions like everybody else. But if the expectation is he'll keep his trap shut in a certain situation, if it can cause problems for the government, then he's got to do that.

There's the rub. Queen Elizabeth keeps her opinions out of politics and public circles because that is how she chooses to reign. Her reign is unique in this, most Monarchs before her did not steer clear of politics - so it's not expected that Charles will as well.

I was thinking too, that Vladimir might be seeking some long lost family connection to the Romanovs' to legitimize his becoming a 'Prince'. But Charles actually has a direct blood line to the Romanovs, far more direct than Putin does.

Who said that was the expectation? You?
