I agree. And generally when Bart and many other Americans say things about Canada and Canadian Policies, they say it with Canada's best interest in mind.

Please keep in mind one thing, Bart and the rest of us Americans here have one thing in common we have a deep respect and kinship with Canada. We may disagree at times, but that doesn't diminish what we think about Canada.

I for my part would have liked the American UDI to have failed and the US to have have evolved toward independence the was way Canada did. We would have avoided a couple wars and a number of other unpleasant things.

Anyway back to the thread.

I personally would like to see Michael Moore choke on anything he wants to talk n some food ( all though it looks like he can take on prodigious quantities of food at the same time without any problems at all).

His movies are all negative on what ever he is talking about. I've never seen anything positive from him at all.

PublicAnimalNo9 PublicAnimalNo9:
This is the same crap that Kelsey-Hayes pulled in Windsor. The feds and province gave them mucho dinero to retool their Windsor factory to aluminum wheels and continue providing jobs.
Mere weeks after receiving all that cash, K-H announced they were moving the plant to the US.
There needs to be legislation to prevent private companies from absconding with public funds like that.

Thanks for the reminder, I knew I have read about this nonsense before.

Another showcase for the idiocy of government negotiators.

This article mentions a 'promise' about jobs from Vale.

Screw that, make it part of the contract, that in return for the money,
the company must keep operations open for x time,
and must keep x number of jobs going, or return the money and pay a big pile of fines.
Don't like it ? Don't ask for the money.

I'd love to hear his explanation on how Steven Harper is just like GW Bush. It's quite easy to talk bullshit if you don't stick around to explain yourself.

Well, they both operate(d) right of centre so in Moore's warped, tiny mind, that makes them identical.

Stephen Harper Stephen Harper:
your country, and particularly your conservative movement, is a light and an inspiration to people in this country and across the world.
...
The Reform party is very much a modern manifestation of the Republican movement in Western Canada; the U.S. Republicans started in the western United States.

The dots are easy to connect.

Wasn't there just an American company that bought out something in Ontario - Steel I believe. They did it on condition they wouldn't close it down, then promptly tried to do just that. Didn't the govt prevent that, and are now being sued under NAFTA? Can't remember the name to I can't google it. Then we had Newfoundland and AbitibiBowater. Just the same old bullshit - govt gives industry money or tax breaks and then gets shafted.

Hardly. They say it based on what an American thinks is in Canada's best interest.

What ever your opinion is of their opinions, they've rarely shown that they don't have Canada's best interests in mind when they voice their opinions of what our policies should be. Even when I disagree with them, I respect that. Besides, sometimes it is good to have an outside opinion, and in a way I value the differing opinion about our country and what we should do more than what I hear from a chorus of Canadians. Why? Because viewing our country from the outside in rather than the inside out produces different viewpoints, and thus different ideas to deal with a problem that may in fact be more successful than our own.

I'm not sure about that. I think we certainly share a lot of interests, but when we conflict, the US cares exactly fuck-all about Canada. Iraq war? Softwood lumber?

Well, as others have already brought up:

$1:
Vale, a Brazilian company, bought out Inco in 2006. In the fall, Vale received a $1-billion loan from the federal government, the release said. Despite promises to increase employment, Vale announced the closure of the smelter and refinery, eliminating all the value-added mining jobs in Thompson by 2015, the NDP said.

If this part is true then do we get our money back, or did Vale spend it all instead on setting up their incredibly successful 'Mike In Brazil' and 'Tranny Surprise' internet franchises? Seriously, as much as Moore can be a douche, why the hell did this loan happen and then these Brazilian sons of bitches shut the goddamn place down anyway? This is just another worse-than-usual example of how the globalization of mining activity under the control of mostly criminal foreign corporations has been a total disaster for Canadian mine workers and for our entire mine resource sector.

So Bart has Canada's best interests in mind, but Moore doesn't?

If the chair of the NRA came to Canada and did for Harper what Moore is doing for the NDP would you be all for that as well?

That is why I do not support this sort of action. As the NRA should be shown the door so too should Mr Moore.

I wouldn't agree with him. But we have free speech in this country, so if he's doing nothing illegal then I couldn't really say much. Different than if a government official was doing it.

Actually I would probably like it if it was shown that Harper was in bed with the NRA - I doubt if most Canadians have much use for them.
