Meadowbank is the one thats getting built right now 100 miles north of Baker lake.Theres 40 other exploration camps all around Baker lake and Rankin inlet.
More camps on Baffin island and they dew line is also being upgraded.

Big time boom going to happen there,especially with the price of gold and other minerals.

Just where are you from?East coast youth are drunk lazy and combative,central canadian youth wouldnt fight because there hearts are some where else!western youth might pick up a rifle but are to self centered to use it,west coast youth are dopers and dirty hippy types!Canada sure would be screwed!

I doubt it. You have too many groups in Canada who see themselves as other than Canadian and they're just not going to be loyal to a country in which loyalty to the country has been soundly denounced for the past twenty years or more.

In Canada it is more important to be French, First Nations, muslim, Sikh, Hindu, Chinese, Polish, a "global citizen", and etc. than it is to be Canadian.

At the same time, I expect an apology from all those asshats who called me paranoid when I told them, repeatedly, that Canada has enemies who eye her resources with covetous intent.

The perfect storm for Canada's future would be to elect another passionately anti-American government right at the same time Russia moves to seize your resources. Try inspiring an America that can't stomach losing 4,000 soldiers in a war to send her youth to fight for a Canada whose government openly hates us. The best you'll get are some volunteers, like myself, who'd be willing to come put on a Maple Leaf and help out.

The dogsled and Innuit rangers would rule.

If Canada's sovereignty is at stake we will step up. Plenty of immigrants who will fight should the time come. If not, we will draft, especially if it is an issue surrounding sovereignty of our land (that includes separatist provinces!)

We will also help out the US when they REALLY need help. We sent plenty of help for Katrina, and if more serious, you know, YOU DO KNOW, Canada will help, as we are still allies, and we share many of the same values, no matter how fucked up, your current political situation/administration is.

That being said, the USA would help Canada without Canada even asking for help if Russia ever invaded. Not out of good-will, but out of self interest.

The only way Russia could take the Arctic would be to take Alaska first because without that precious fuel they arent going anywhere.

Did I mention there's been a fuel shortage in the Arctic for 3 years and you cant buy jet fuel unless it's an emergency?

The french have pretty well owned the arctic the last 20 years anyways.

Why do you think it would be a cakewalk?
We allready have had the resources being developed and prospected 30 years ago.

I dont think the shareholders in all these diamond,platinum and gold mines would take kindly to ANYONE sniffing around their legal claims so nothings ripe for the picking.

And you can make as much fun of the rangers as you want but go to youtube and put sovop into the search bar and see whos training who.

Tha American's with all their high tech gear still rely on rangers and dogsleds to stay alive after -50. Watch some of the vid's and you'll see what I mean.
