The only learning disability that is serious enough to prevent her from answering that question correctly(it was simple math for a grade 4 student) is severe mental retardation.

The PR department at timmies all need to be fired.
Sure, they had the right to disqualify her but now look at the bad PR their getting again. For the sake of a simple prize, a 2 cent timbit or a toonie, they torpedo their national credability again and again.

My kids both got the answer, doing the calculations in their heads, no calculator, no pen and paper.

Anyone past the second grade can get that question. (excluding the obvious)

Oh come on. She had 2 chances and gave the same wrong answer both times.

PR aside... I wouldn't have given it to her.

You think after someone tells you your answer was wrong you would at the very least try a different number. ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL

"Enforcement of these rules is not very stringent, and especially for small prizes, the player may not be required to answer the skill-testing question to claim a prize. Anecdotally, getting the answer wrong is also often not an obstacle to claiming a prize. The questions are also becoming easier.[1] For contests held in the United States or other countries that are open to Canadians, the questions must also be asked of any Canadian winner"

..thought so.

These guys can do math in their heads, but not on paper, and not much else either. Brain damage can be extremely specific, or extremely broad. There are people who only see the left portion of something, and so when they eat, they eat half of the plate of food, because that's all they can see, spin around, eat half the remainder, spin again, and eat half of what yet remains, and then stop. There are people who can remember every single minute event of their entire lives. There are people who can't remember what happened two minutes ago.

This issue isn't about being too dumb to answer a question and "earn" a prize. The question is to change it from a lottery, which requires a license and lottery number, to a prize, which does not have such requirements. She can probably lead an otherwise quite normal life, even if she can't do 6 * 8 - 5 + 9.

As far as I can tell, the only thing she's guilty of is being too honest to get her husband or kids to do the question for her.

In other words, she didn't win but Timmies bowed to pressure and gave the bitch the prize anyway? Give me a break!

If you can't play according to the rules, tough sh*t for you.

I had to answer a skill question when I won a contest on spacecast.com. I gave the correct answer so I got my prize. Why is she exempt from that rule?

Tricks Tricks:
Before jumping on Timmies, find out the learning disability (she could have used a fucking calculator). It's law, if she gets it wrong, that's not Tim Hortons' problem.

Because the rule is there to Timmies can give away stuff, not so that people have to "earn" their prizes. She bought a cup with a winning rim, she won. She lived up to her end of the bargain. All you people are hung up on the letter of the law without looking at its intent.

The only reason I can see where Timmies would be justified in persisting in denying her the prize would be if to do so would cause them to be barred from offering such promotions in the future. If Roll Up The Rim To Win is safe, even if they give her this prize, then there's no reason not to give it to her.

She's just smart enough to know that she has a learning disability.
She's not smart enough to know that the second answer is still wrong.
She's not smart enough to ask someone else for the correct answer.
Or nobody in her home is smart enough to answer the question correctly.

My question is this?
How the fuck is she gonna use a GPS?

"Ooooh! Look, kids, we're at the corner of Main and P "
SMASH
