Who cares. I'm going to buy a second home in the US somewhere. Apparently there is some sort of recession going on down there. Prolly has nothing to do with a couple little ships crusing around the Persian Gulf. Get a cheap house at par or better. Let them fight. I'm house hunting.

BartSimpson BartSimpson: Wullu Wullu: ridenrain ridenrain: .. and if the US or the British opened fire and sank those little boats, you can bet the same, predictable people would be in here crying about "American arrogance" or how this was another illegal act of agression.
This would have been a perfect chance to try out the new area denial "heat ray". Some of the"Left" blogs are already on about "Gulf of Tonkin"... I am really starting to hate those traitors.
Given that the US lied about Iraq and lied about the Gulf of Tonkin, you can hardly blame people for being suspicious. The Persian Gulf does not belong to the US.

One can only imagine if the US warships would have fired !
I can already read the headlines around the world
Let's put it that way, after all, it could never be the Iranians' fault, even if they provoked it.

The Pentagon isn't a very credible source.

$1: The Pentagon isn't a very credible source.
When it comes to twisting the truth, they're amateurs compared to the Iranians.

You are correct Zip, it does not belong to the US, in fact, it belongs to no one. The PG is an international body of water and thus shipping, regardless of flag, is free to navigate it at will.

So I guess it would be ok for the Iranians to patrol the Gulf of Mexico like they owned the place then...
I'd like to see that one. Maybe Cuba should be more involved

Let them try.
While their at it, maybe they can help the US fighting the Sololia pirates that are attacking EVERYONES shipping going up and down the coast.
Why the hell are anonymous people allowed to post? Their always lefty snipers too.

Of course it would be ok for Iran to patrol the Gulf of Mexico. Of course they would have to build a blue water navy, capable of it. Complete with AORs and bases to supply out of. I am sure ol Fidel would be happy to oblige. Now all they need are the hulls, training and ability.
We may see them as soon as 2070....

Thank you for those enlightening words. But I think it would better for everyones sake if the US just left it alone and concentrated on current quagmires.

And transiting the Strait of Hormuz is one way we get to one of those 'quagmires'. Iran needs to respect international law and leave us alone when we peacefully use that waterway.
Iran is the bad boy on this one.
