None of it matters anyway. Trump's fans won't desert him over this any more than Trudeau's fans deserted him over the blackface. Or dropping the hammer on JWR. Or any of the other shit both of them have done.

This is the Age of Our Guy. Right or wrong, legal or criminal, smart or stupid. None of it means anything anymore. All that matters is pissing off the other guy to keep the increasingly stupid fans entertained, no matter how much the actions of these monsters wrecks everything around us. This is the looming catastrophe of our era. Not climate change. Not the spectre of war. Not the concentration of all wealth into the hands of a miniscule few. It's the entry of humanity as a whole into an over-arching world-wide society and culture with no morals or ethics whatsoever, and nothing good will come from this transition.

Doubtful that any of the other presidents since Nixon, even Trump, have been stupid enough to keep all the evidence of their activities in their own office anymore. And that's no matter what any of the post-Nixon laws clearly state. In this day and age of uber-tribalism it would be a pointless battle to even get such laws enforced by either side. And the Dems would have quite willingly acted just as horrible to defend Bill Clinton as the Repubs are currently doing to defend Trump.
