Forest Service. Not sure what it's called in Canada.

Usually 'Department of Environment' or 'Lands and Forestry'. But cleaning the forest isn't their job. They manage the forest, they aren't landscapers. And there are barely enough of them to manage resources.

It should be our responsibility not to build inside flammable forests. Forests have been managing themselves for millions of years before we got here to screw them up.

There are camping grounds (in National, Provincial or State parks) where they ask you to leave fallen wood where it is... but you can still make fires (unless it's too dry). Fallen wood and brush serve a purpose in the forest.

It's bad enough to have fires caused by weather but the ones that are human caused are completely avoidable. Bans and restrictions are good things but only effective if people obey them, which sadly some feel they are above doing.

There should be greater consequences to such utter stupidity. I don't know what form that could take but the threat of fines obviously is not working and in the meantime people's lives and livelihoods are being put at risk.
