We'll see. If Clinton loses because of this then Weiner will be more hated in the US than the guy who caught the playable foul ball at the Cubs game a few years back and cost them a playoff spot.
You see, that's a PERFECT example of where optics cloud reality. Bartman didn't cost them the game. Alex Gonzalez cost them the game. He doesn't make an error and the Bartman play never happens. Not that Alou would have caught it anyway, but Bartman wasn't the goat for what he did, he was the goat because Alou had a shit-fit afterwards. Alou just turns around and goes back to left field and no one remembers the play.
Perfect parallel to politics. Outrage in all the wrong directions. Flawed optics and false outrage leading to mob mentality. That pretty much sums up the political right these days.
Yeah, but I'm not a conservative anymore. My right wing is a different one now from the burned-out Reagan one, but I still want Clinton to win because Trump is such a ridiculous mean-spirited moronic pig of a person.
It's funny, I was considering the same concept myself, in relation to Canada though. Now that McKay has stepped away from running for Conservative leadership, who are these people who have hijacked the party?
Many of them are gone, but some are like mice who come out when you turn off the lights. Guys like Alexander, Steve Blaney. Some of the people who are long gone still cast an ominous shadow: Vic Toews (in particular), Julien Fantino, these guys represented the worst of the worst as far as I am concerned.
Conservatism needs to attach itself more wisely to the Libertarian movement. In polls prior to the finish of the primaries, none other than Rand Paul polled the highest against the Democrats. He is what I suggest is a "real" conservative. He would have made record cuts to taxes, social justice changes and minimized governments role. Without a doubt, his policies would have helped America greatly. The only issue I had with him was his foreign policy, which I believe requires some intervention on the part of America, not a full withdrawal.
But alas, the social far right can't stand to believe the expansion of liberties is a good thing, so a Libertarianism at this time isn't feasible. It is the most broadly and naturally accepted ideology in America, what the founding fathers put in place to ensure Americas success. Either the left or right will embrace it...eventually...
In Canada we of course have nothing of the sort. Doomed to lose in globalization, while lying is secrecy earns people careers. I say good luck to Canada.
