It's just too simple an idea. Why eliminate the myriad of bureaucracies (welfare, EI, CPP, OAS, GST rebates, etc) that try to accomplish the same thing?
I sort of agree with Lemmy on the attitude of many: Just because things doesn't work doesn't mean we have to change anything. Change itself is just too horrible!
FFS look at the uproar over Windows 10 or even changing two fucking words in O Canada.

My brother in law's family were refugees from the Commies. His favorite saying is "Lucky we beat them in the 80s, we could never do it again. The bureaucracy is way worse, and you can't even slip a few bucks to the right official to get anything done."
