In the end, that really doesn't matter.

People don't watch HNIC Canada to see Ron MacLean or Strombo.

They do when the Leafs and Oilers are playing.

I'm a Leaf fan............and I have to agree.
Watched them right up to the game where they had a 4 goal lead against Florida.......and blew it. After that it was all down hill and I couldn't watch any longer.

Nobody in Vancouver likes Ron Maclean. Strombo's smarm is unbearable.

Then why bother to replace one with the other and why have poll's since, if what you say is true that nobody watches them?

It seems like a pointless evolution designed to get rid of MacLean for someone who they think is more "relevant".

You can't have a new product and spend all that money and keep the same old guys on the desk.

They went with a new host, new look and a completely new set (Rogers).

Frankly, polls mean nothing in TV or radio. Viewership and ratings is where it counts and with no drastic rise or fall in the ratings, the host of the show just doesn't make a difference in viewership.

Yeah, be thinking about you come playoff time. Who are Edmonton playing again? Oh that's right, despite about two defcades of first overall draft picks, they're still golfing in March.

I have no issue with Ron McLean. He's no different from some of the other "experts" and analysts who sometimes rip teams and players apart and sometimes butter up players or teams that you may or may not agree with. So what? It's just their opinions, not the official facts.

He's essentially an entertainer .. as is Cherry. They even have an old fashioned, straight man comedy schtick going. Sports is an entertainment product.
