This is where the graph shows commerce and common sense intersecting. Tough business class for the grieving family.

Freakinoldguy Freakinoldguy:
WTF is a 9 year old doing shooting an UZI? What happened to common sense where you learned gun handling, safety and respect with an old single shot Coey before you graduated to other weapons.

This is a tragedy that could have been avoided if the parents and the idiots that own this range had used a little common sense and understanding a childs inability to control a fully automatic weapon.

You guys may remember not long ago an identical incident involving an 8 year-old boy and an uzi at the shooting range. In that case, the boy ended up shooting himself through the head.

Some cold comments, an innocent man was killed in a tragic accident and now the 9 year old girl has to live with this day the rest of her life.

True but, that still doesn't exonerate the people involved in his death and tragic as it is the fact remains that it was completely needless.

There is a strong probability that she will never want to touch a gun again. Ever.

I'm sure this will lead to a regulation being set about what types of weapons children should be permitted to handle even when in a controlled setting with an instructor.

With equal shrieking pushback that her 2nd amendment rights are being infringed upon!

Yeah, no change in regulation. When Sandy Hook didn't change anything you just know the US is just too depraved to act after any of these incidents. As Beaver mentioned, last time it was an 8 yr old boy who shot himself in the head.

Exactly. It's sad but it doesn't take away from the stupidity of what happened. A 9 year old shouldn't be firing an Uzi. A gun with what, a 500 rounds/minute fire rate? You want teach kids responsible gun use? Fine. There are starter guns for that sort of thing.

The standard Uzi in 9×19mm Parabellum has a rate of fire of 600 rpm. I only hope this young girl manages to put this "accident" behind her and doesn't suffer from any memories of it. On the other hand I hope her parents and staff from the Bullets and Burgers gun range remember this act of total stupidity each and every day for the rest of their lives. Maybe next time these people try to teach any child the proper usage of firearms they start with something like a single shot .22

I would go for training a 9 year old with a single shot .22. I started out that way. My 15 year old daughter has started out that way.

I'd probably stick with an air gun until they can enroll in a formal hunter safety course.

Giving a kid, or really anyone who isn't an expert in firearms, an Uzi is like giving someone dynamite.

All I'm going to say is that I really feel for the girl - this will no doubt traumatize her for life.
