They truly are. I've spent extensive time in and around "The Rock". I've even sailed from out-port-to-out-port in the 70's, before they were all gone. I'm not insulting them. (I'm laughing along with them because half of Fort McMurray is from the Avalon Peninsula).

p.s. I saw what those huge Russian factory trawler fleets did to their fishery that forced Newfoundlanders into the Westward migration in the first place. The Russians were feckin' EVERYWHERE on the Banks.You could practically walk from trawler to trawler. ("Trawler" ... that's rich. They were positively bristling with antennae and dishes of every description ... vacuuming up the sea bed while they vacuumed up our telephone calls.)
