Ran into an evacuee at the campgrund/beach late last week who's laptop crashed. Lost his email link and only had a flip phone, we have free wifi at the park. Took it home, fixed it and brought it back, sat with him and reset his mail client.
Tried to pull out his wallet and I told him once he got home and if his property and job are ok, and things get settled - here's my card. You can interac me what you think is fair.
Jut enjoyed meeting him, his family, his dog.
This afternoon there was an Interac for $50 in my Inbox... things must be ok

This was how the Fraser Valley looked Wednesday. It was a little breezy yesterday so it wasn't so bad. Today however, is nastier than the third panel....

Today is the worst I've seen. No real sunlight at all today. Visibility is terrible and it seems to me that incoming flights to YVR are descending sooner than usual. It's almost hard to see the incoming flights and normally I have a clear view of them to the north of where I live.

Good Lord but we need some rain soon. Local public parks are closed now to the public due to the dryness and fear of carelessness. A few days of it would be fantastic all over the province. Just please... no lightning.

Living down here I can't believe I agree, we need rain. We had a drizzle a few weeks a ago and that was it. Other than that we've had no real rain since the start of summer. This haze is gross.

Meanwhile outside of Peterborough there is a sign asking for a small drought just a few rainless weeks

xerxes xerxes:
I had an asthma attack two weeks ago because of the air quality and my chest has been tight since the smoke rolled in. It sucks.

But it also make me understand what everyone outside of the Fraser Valley has had to deal with for the last few weeks.

I checked in with a friend of mine today to see how she's doing as she's had asthma all her life and at times has had difficulties. So far she's doing ok but is staying indoors unless necessary to go out.

Take care xerxes.

Just had a look at the Moon, it's just short of being full on the 7th, so it's quite big tonight, it has a beautiful orange tint to it, thanks to all the smoke in the atmosphere.

And some people think we are hysterical because we want to see the back-country shut down. Each day it gets dryer and the temps haven't dropped below the high 20's for a week and don't look to be dropping anytime soon.

Coming home from work today, there were two guys on dirt bikes tearing down the Canim-Hendrix highway - not a license plate in site. Other than not being licensed for the highway, they were breaking the current ban as they weren't on a back road - but I was left to wonder just where they had been.

I surely feel for those of you who are currently blanketed in smoke. The skies here were blue all day and you could feel the heat from the sun unlike when it is cloaked in smoke. All day yesterday beautiful big puffy clouds built on the horizon then as slowly as they came, they drifted away.

With people being stupid enough to set off fireworks it's a wonder that there haven't been more fires. A ban of the back country sounds completely reasonable. Unfortunately even with a ban there will still be stupid people doing stupid stuff. Stay safe

Every day I read another story illustrating the stupidity, carelessness or outright criminality of the idiots among us. At least three separate fires were started and thankfully put out, by cigarettes thrown from car windows, in Kamloops recently. In the fire zones around Willy' Puddle as if crews don't have enough on their hands, people have been stealing equipment.

Well we're getting our share of the smoke lately. So hot I slept with my window open and woke up with a sore throat, having dinner at the restaurant you can't see the other side of the lake.
The water disappearing into the haze looks like a scene from the Twilight Zone!
Poor little Pom is suffering, they've been bred down s small they have difficulty breathing as is. Tempted to give him a shot of the wife's asthma inhaler! No walkies or car rides in the heat and smoke it must be torture!

Two new fires nearby overnight, both quickly contained. On a plus note, everyone's called in at the mills with the competition down south shut down and prices soaring.
