[news] - PARTY! Historyonics is Historyrific!Posted by Jam on Thu the 13th of November , 2008 at 6:39 PM Yay new comic is up! This should have been put up yesterday, but I ended up getting so tired that I couldn't muster the energy to get my last colour (80% grey) from the other room. I passed out on the couch instead! HAHAHA man that's lame. Still, I'm pretty happy with it. I'm not comfortable with yellows, but I wanted this to look "fallsy" so I took a risk. I think it came out okay! Be sure to check out the ISBN comic again, too, I rescanned it so it doesn't look like crap anymore. ALWAYS A PLUS.
(Finally! I've found something harder to scan than MARKER! >_< )
UM ANYWAY HISTORYONICS.

IT IS HERE! It is so pretty, you have no idea. I am so freakin' proud of this thing. And if you are a VANCOUVER LOCAL, you should TOTALLY crash THE JEM GALLERY Sunday at 1pm!! It will be your FIRST CHANCE to get your hands on Historyonics. After that it should start showing up on a comic shop shelf near you and will be available online, but ONLY at the JEM can you see a bunch of the original pages (on gallery walls! I KNOW!) and get your book signed by MOST of the 14 artists featured in the book! ALSO I will be there! Also it will be fun! ALSO!Comments: (0)
[news] - Still on the East CoastPosted by Jam on Mon the 10th of November , 2008 at 10:46 AM Hey team, still on the East Coast, I will be flying back tomorrow, leaving the house at like THREE AM AUGH.
Just wanted to let you know that I've been super busy running from one relative's house to another's since I landed, so I'm just now able to knock off some email and message replies. If I haven't replied to you yet, it's not because I won't! I probably will get to the rest of them Tuesday afternoon... as many as I can before I pass out from jetlag x_x
New comic will follow at some point after that
VANCOUVER LOCALS: There is a party happening as a sort of post-Ape thing for Historyonics At the JEM gallery on Sunday! I originally thought it was supposed to be *yesterday*, (durr lots of travel == confusion for me), but since it's actually on the 16th I will probably be there
OTHERWISE: I will soon make the internet magicks happen so that I can sell Historyonics online. I will probably also be selling my convention overstock (buttons, books, longcats) so watch for that Comments: (1)

| [Red] Beer FestPosted by Red on Thu the 9th of October , 2008 at 3:55 PM Nottingham is holding a beer fest this weekend. I attended the festival tonight with some co-workers. As I am attempting to stay awake while finishing a large glass of water, the quality/spelling might be comprimised.
The beer festival, rather real ale festival, was the stereotypical British beer. Warm. The casks were lined up, and the only refrigeration was a cloth on each. These kegs provided beer that was room-ish temperature. My co-workers defended the temperature of the beer, and I may or may not have accused them of being heathens for drinking warm beer.
The beer itself brought me back to my attempts at brewing. This is not a compliment in any way/shape/form. The beer I had ranged from bad to Crime Against Humanity. For the love of God, don't drink Spectacled Bear beer. It's just not worth it.
This fest showed the penchant for beer differs wildly amongst the imbibers. A co-worker raved about Number of the Beast, but I can best describe the taste as puddle water with lemon. And if anyone sampled the Spectacled Bear and enjoyed it, I have some other crap you might like. Motor oil and ass-crack sweat spring to mind.
The fest was not limited to beer, though. There was a selection of cider and country wine.
Cider is cider, and is best left alone. Even in this article.
The county wine was interesting in the fact that what makes a country wine is the absence of grapes. Without grapes, you have to get creative with your wine. And the brewers did.
If you were looking for a red, you had the following options: Blackcurrant, Elderberry and Tayberry. Three choices, none sound all that appealing. Then again, that might be due to the lack of grapes.
The roses (mentally add the accent) were Pink Gooseberry, Raspberry and Red Currant. Surprising amount of choice for rose (mentally add the accent), but still nothing demands sampling. This time the lack of sampling desire springs from more than the rational of "It's a rose (mentally add the accent)".
Apparently the whites are where the country wines dominate. Apricot, Carrot, Crab-Apple, Dandelion, Greengage, Mead, Orange Blossom, Plum, Pumpkin, Rhubarb and Rosehip. The volume and variety of wines in this catergory make me wonder. Wonder things like "How in the hell did someone look at a carrot and think it would make a nice wine?". Things like "Why would someone try to get drunk off dandelions?" and "What is Greengage?". Some questions are best left unanswered.
So, to recap: Nottingham beer fest is a plethora (600+ varieties) of beer, a smaller selection of cider, and an even smaller sampling of weird wine. And I had a great time.Comments: (8)
[Red] Sage AdvicePosted by Red on Wed the 1st of October , 2008 at 2:52 PM Hypothetically speaking, let's say that you happen to be in Austin by yourself. Let's also say that you are in town on business, by are hoping to have a good time on the side. Also, hypothetically, let's say that you meet a really hot girl at a restaurant and you two go bar-hopping on a sunday night.
Here is some advice:
- Hit on her before you become functionally retarded from attempting to have a drink at every bar on the main drag of Austin. Not being able to walk in a straight line does not help you.
- Since you are heading back to your hotel room alone, do not attempt to call her. It does not matter that you know the hotel she is staying at and her first name. The front desk does not appreciate drunk dials, and neither will she. In fact, they will probably not even attempt to put you through and will hang up rather rudely.
- Stay off your computer. Seriously, leave it alone.
- Don't check your email. Seriously, just don't.
- Don't reply to new messages. For the love of God, why are you disobeying all of these?
In the morning, you will have a story, a couple interesting emails to explain and a pounding headache. Good luck.Comments: (2)
