Wasted Talent: The Story of My Life

This comic began because my life was too strange to not chronicle with little comics. It is 100% autobiographical. Meaning, ALL of the comics are based on true events and conversations that happened to me. Well,... some of the things only happened in my head, but I can't tell the difference. 99% of the time the conversation or event is real. Personally I think it makes the comic more interesting. Or more depressing. One way or another.

Actually, “Wasted Talent” got started a year or two ago as my personal contribution to the “webcomic” boom. It started as an honest-to-goodness webcomic with scripted jokes and “good” graphics and timed release and planning and stuff… well, that crashed pretty quickly. (Engineering school does that to a LOT of personal projects). That is why WT is the only comic that actually gets *worse* in quality as it goes along.

After a few strips were drawn, idea was left fallow for several months while I didn’t have time to ink and colour my penciled panels. And then I went to Europe. So many random things happened to me and Trevor that I just *had* to put it down in comic form. But all I had was a cheap ballpoint pen and a sketchjournal. It was on the long bumpy smelly train rides between countries that WT as we know it today really came to be. Once I got back into school, armed with looseleaf paper and gel pens, WT became my outlet for anything funny that happened to me or ran through my head. My classmates became big fans of my stupid little strips and eventually they got published in school papers and newsletters. Soon the “Wasted Talent” section of my binder got too thick and crowded out some other notes, and that’s what I realized I probably needed a site to put all this crap.

And now you get to see them. I bet you wished the story was more interesting, but that's the way it is!
